JULAI Review

Review

Director Trivikram Srinivas latest Telugu movie Julayistarring Allu Arjun and Ileana D'Cruz in leads, is a mass entertainer, which has all the masala elements like good music, dance, comedy, action and beautiful locations and costumes. Although it has a weak story and few other drawbacks, it is perfect treat for a family audience this weekend.
Allu Arjun's performance is the major highlight of the film. Arjun-Ileana's on-screen chemistry, Devi Sri Prasad's music, Brahmanandham and Hema's comedy timing, Trvikram Srinivas' excellent direction and dialogues, Peter Hein's stunts, beautiful locations and costumes are other attractions of the movie. The big drawback of the film is its storyline.
Julayi is all about making easy money. The movie revolves around the story of an aimless guy, who sets on to make easy money, but realises the difficulties as he starts his journey towards the goal. No doubt, the first half of the film is superb with its series of comedy episodes, music and dance. The film turns very sentimental with its multiple twists in the second half. But its narration takes a slow pace as it moves towards climax.
Ravindra Narayan (Allu Arjun) is a middle class guy, who believes in making quick money. But he will never resort to illegal activities. But his father Narayana Murthy (Tanikella Bharani) believes in hard work. Ravindra comes in the way of Bittu (Sonu Sood), who plans a bank robbery of Rs 1,500 crore. When he gets the information, he informs police commissioner Manikyam (Rao Ramesh) and gets Bittu caught. In the process, Bittu's brother Lala (Shafi) gets killed. A furious Bittu swears to take revenge on Ravindra. However, Commissioner Manikyam packs off Ravindra secretly to Hyderabad as he had the responsibility to save the witness. What happens next will form the crux of the film.
Allu Arjun has delivered a wonderful performance in the film Julayi. He looks very energetic in dance and action sequences. His comedy timing throughout the movie keeps the viewers glued to the screen. Though, his love interest, Ileana D'Cruz has less space to show skills, she rocks the audience in songs. A special mention should be made about Brahmanandham and Hema's rib tickling comedy. Others like Sonu Sood as Bittu, Rajendra Prasad, Thanikella Bharani, Kota Sreenivasarao have also delivered excellent acting for their respective role.
Devi Sri Prasad's music is the major attraction in the technical front. He has given foot tapping beats and his compositions like 'O Madhu', 'Pakado Pakado' and 'Julayi' are sure to rock the audience. The cinematography of Chota K Naidu and Shyam K Naidu in song sequence is simply superb. Prawin Pudi's editing is also commendable. Trivikram's dialogues are excellent.
Verdict: Watch Julayi for Allu Arjun's energetic performance, Devi Sri Prasad's music, Trivikram's witty dialogues, Sonu Sood's great action, Rajendra Prasad's performance and Ileana's glamour. It is a perfect mixture of performances. The film has everything for the audience of all class and age group.
