Hindi Movie "DEPARTMENT" First Look

Ram Gopal Varma’s movie Department, Rana and Sanjay Dutt play cop roles in the movie. Amitabh Bachchan plays role of gangster who turns politician. Manchu Lakshmi and Anjana sukhani also star in the movie.

DEPARTMENT

Main illegally legal kaam karta hoon, legally illegal kaam nahin” the opening lines delivered by the inimitable Amitabh Bachchan sets the tone for the high octane trailer of Ram Gopal Varma’s next film Department.

The movie has Amitabh Bachchan playing a Machiavellian vigilante, a manipulative authoritarian who imparts justice as he deems fit. Legal kaam done illegally because the system failed to do it. Sanjay Dutt plays a badass cop with a dual personality while Rana Daggubati is the idealistic newcomer in police department who believes in staying faithful to one’s profession.

It’s an all-out bloody war between the criminals and cops in ‘Department’ and towering above all and pulling the strings from his perch is the gangster-turned-politician Sarjerao Gaikwad (Amitabh Bachchan).

Talking about the characters, director Ram Gopal Varma said: “The character Sarjerao played by Mr. Bachchan represents a Machiavellian character whose power lies in his manipulation and deception. The character Mahadev played by Sanjay Dutt represents an ultra dynamic character whose power lies in his dual personality which he very successfully hides.

“The character Shivnarayan played by Rana Daggubati represents a shoot first and talk later kind of a character, whose power lies in obedience to people whom he respects!” Ramu said.

There are fleeting shots of the new hottie on the block Nathalia Kaur as well.

Lakshmi Manchu steals the show on the sets of 'Department'
When it comes to the children of senior actor Mohan Babu, only one name stands tall. That is the name of Lakshmi Manchu, his daughter. Within a short span, Lakshmi made her presence felt not just as a popular socialite but also as an impressive talk show host and an actress.

Now, it is heard that Lakshmi has hit the jackpot. Reports from Mumbai reveal Lakshmi Manchu has impressed none other than Amitabh Bachchan. Apparently, Lakshmi is currently busy with the shooting of her debut Bollywood movie ‘Department’ which has the legendary Bachchan in the lead.

Unit members of ‘Department’ reveal “Lakshmi’s performance has caught the attention of Big B. The way she is carrying herself, her focus towards her role and the preparation etc, all this is being observed by Mr Bachchan and he has mentioned one or two times about her performance. Looking at this, it may not be a surprise to see him recommending the name of Lakshmi to other Bollywood folks.

Racha Movie Review

Cast & Crew :- Ram Charan teja,Tamanna
Director :- Sampath nandi
Music :- Mani Sharma
Banner :- Mega Super Good Movies
Rating:3.7/5
Synopsis:
Racha is the story of Betting Raju (Charan) and Chaitra (Tamannah) who were son and daughter of two friends. Both of them had to separate due to the wicked ploy of Bellary (Mukesh Rushi). After some 15 years, both of them unite due to a strange incident. Raaj who is aimless till then makes Chaitra’s aim as his aim. What happens next forms the actual part of the story.
How they Performed?:
Ram Charan Tej is a power house of energy. He managed very good performance in the movie. Sameer Reddy photography helped to capture good shots of him.
Tamannah is superb on screen and has every thing to lure masses to theaters. Performance wise, she could not do much. Mukesh Rushi, Dev Girl, Kota Srinivas Rao, MS Narayana and others have did reasonably well. Brahmanandham as dance master Rangeela managed to draw few laughs.
Technicalities:
This is Sampath Nandi’s second movie as director. His first film budget was 3 crores and he managed to bag Racha of 40 crores budget. However, he completely lost track. The movie story is a routine one and the taking is no different.
Mani Sharma had lost his touch completely. Songs were average and back ground music is mediocre. The placement of songs is wrong. Cinematography by Sameer Reddy is good. Gautham Raju completely let down in editing.
Final Word: Racha is a routine mass masala story combined with bad treatment. The screen play not convincing and is outdated. You can give it a miss!

Story:

Raj (Ram Charan) is a guy who makes money on bettings. His father (MS) falls ill and doctors say that his liver has to be transplanted. So Raj takes up a bet thrown by James (Ajmal) to make Chaitra (Tamanna) fall in his love. Chaitra is daughter of Ballari (Mukesh Rishi), a hardcore criminal and multi millionaire. Now Raj has a big challenge ahead of him. What happens next is to be seen on screen.

Analysis:

Racha has a routine plot and beaten to death narration. But having right mix of commercial elements is its biggest plus. The writers and the director got the formula right and have thrown in good twists at right intervals. The narration is also smooth and racy.

There are no dull moments in the film, which would work in its favor at the box office. Racha will be lapped up by the masses as it offers them right doses of mass entertainment. This film may not impress audience who seek variety and sensible narration. On the downside the film starts off on a weak note and only gains momentum after thirty minutes into the story.

Racha is over the top at times and that is what works here. If you are looking for some mass masala treat, Racha is the one for you. It has the potential to click at the box office.

Performances:

Ram Charan did one man show in this film. He is at his best in the role of a slum boy with daring attitude. He imitated Chiru in few scenes and that will be liked by mega fans. His fluid dances and solid action sequences adds to the film. Charan can turn into a very big mass hero in the days to come. He is too good at portraying this type of roles.

Tamanna is a treat to watch. Her glamour is another positive point for the film. Tamanna’s skin show in songs, especially Vaana vaana song will win her more fans. Her performance is Okay too.

Ajmal is neat in an important role. Mukesh Rishi is usual. Brahmanandam provided comic relief and so did Ali in one lengthy comedy scene. Parthipan and Nazar are good in their brief yet important roles. The director made sure of using all the characters to have a free flowing screenplay and he did well.

Technicalities:

Sampath Nandi banked upon seasoned technicians for this film. Paruchuri Brothers did a fine job with the dialogues. There were few unnecessary and silly dialogues, but on a whole, dialogues are good. Music by Mani Sharma is a bonus. His background score elevates the film and keeps the audience interested. Songs are good on screen. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is impressive. Editing by Gowtam Raju is adequate. The film is made on a grand scale.

Director Sampath Nandi exceeded everybody’s expectations by handling a routine script with complete command. He knows the pulse of mass audience. His direction in second half will impress. No nonsense approach is his biggest asset. Racha doesn’t bore at any point despite routine script.

Final Word:

Racha is for the masses. It has been a while since any mega hero did an out and out mass entertainer. Racha will be a treat for mega fans and will click with the B and C centers audiences. The success range will depend on how well they embrace it.

Racha Movie Rating: 3.5/5

Story

Akash (Aadi) and Kittu (Vennela Kishore) are friends. Lovely (Sanvi) and Lalli (Chinmayi) are friends. Kittu and Lalli become facebook friends with celebrity profile photos. When they are about to meet in real, Akash and Lovely go to the meeting pretending to be Kittu and Lalli respectively. The rest of the story is all about how they fall in love and how they face the problems following that.
Artists Performance

Aadi who has proved to be a good dancer with his first film has come a long way from there. Aadi is spontanious with his acting in casual scenes. His dialogue delivery is good and ability to perform stunts is commend-worthy. The light beard and light mustache added to his look (compared to thick mustache and clean-shaved beard in his debut film. Sanvi is alright as an actress. Vennela Kishore is like a second hero in this film and he carried the entire first half with his impeccable/improvised comedy timing. Chinmayi G is entertaining with her Telangana dialect. Rajendra Prasad is good as a protective father, there is something wrong his character sketch. Ahuti Prasad’s character is something similar to that of one he played in Kotha Bangaru Lokam film. Paruchuri Gopala Krishna is good as a crooked politician. Master Prem is cute.
Technical departments.

Story - screenplay - direction: Jaya’s work in this film is sophisticated. She handled the first half well where you need to get the characterizations and nuances right to set the plot properly. The way hero’s characterization developed is good. However the twist in the second half doesn't work. Screenplay looks good on paper and it works fine in the first half, but the second half screenplay doesn’t get elevated as certain episodes should have been done in a more arresting way. On a whole, Lovely is a better film from Jaya compared to her previous outings.

Other departments: Music by Anup Rubens is definitely an asset to the movie. All songs are shot and choreographed well. Dialogues by Shyam Manohar are mostly good. There is humor and understanding of contemporary world in it. Cinematography by Arun Kumar is nice and is rich in colors. Editing is fine in first half, but a bit abrupt towards climax. Production values by RJ Cinemas (BA Raju) are very good.

Analysis: First half of the film is decent and second half should have been better. Plus points of the film are First half, Aadi, music and dialogues. On the flip side, a better setup of schemes (twists) in second half would have made this movie more arresting. On a whole, Lovely is a better film among the ones directed by Jaya. We need to wait and watch how it fares at box office.
