Hot Bollywood bombshell Shilpa Shetty was born on June 8, 1975 to Surendra and Sunanda Shetty in the Southern Indian state of Karnataka. Her mother Sunanda was a famous model during her time. Shilpa?s native language is Tulu and she can also fluently speak Hindi, Marathi, Gujrati, Tamil, French and English. She attended St Anthony Girls' High School in Chembur and then went to Podar College. She was the captain of the school baseball team and has earned a black belt in Karate. This tall and fit Bollywood actress also actively participates in social activities and is attached to various social organizations like PETA and Anti Aids campaign
Shetty started her career by modelling for Limca in 1991 at age 16, and made her film debut in 1993 with Baazigar, portraying a woman murdered by her psychopathic boyfriend. Shetty took the supporting role of Seema, co-starring alongside Shahrukh Khan and Kajol; the film was a major success and earned her a nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.
Since then it was no looking back for this gorgeous actress. She can today be rated as one of the top actress in the Bollywood film industry. In 2000 Shilpa won the IIFA (International Indian Film Awards) award for the 'Best Actress'. In 2004 Shilpa earned lot of praise and received great reviews for the role of an HIV positive victim Tammana' in the movie 'Phir Milenge' opposite Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.

Her appearance on "Celebrity Big Brother" (2001) caused a huge racism and bullying row. As several house mates didn't approve her presence, they made fun of her accent, cooking and her native country. Following these incidents, broadcasting network Channel 4 received over a record-breaking 40,000 complaints, and the controversy developed to a diplomatic crisis between the UK and India. Even Prime Minister Tony Blair and Chanchellor Gordon Brown, while visiting India, condemned these acts of unfairness and intolerance (January 2007).
